Review Letshuoer DX1

The Letshuoer company, founded in 2016 by Danny To and Jeff Wong was born from a shared vision; to create audiophile-grade sound experiences that rivals the best in the industry. Now a rising force in the hifi world of high-fidelity in-ear monitors (IEMs), known for blending innovative engineering with passionate craftsmanship.

Danny To, a former senior engineer at Panasonic and sales director at a global tech firm, founded ‘SHUOER Acoustics’ in 2016 alongside Jeff Wong. Who had a background as department head at Dah Chong Hong Group and was director at ZhongSheng Group. Danny driven by his passion as an audiophile and a desire to bring his innovative ideas to life, built ‘LETSHUOER’ on the belief that only truly high-quality products and reliable service can build a lasting brand.

“I know that only with really good products that really meet people’s expectation and reliable service can an enterprise be deeply rooted in the hearts of the people and last for a century.”

– Danny To

Jeff Wong brings extensive industrial design experience to LETSHUOER. His expertise ensures that each in-ear monitor is not only visually striking but also exceptionally comfortable. A passionate hi-fi enthusiast.

“Whenever I am at leisure, listening hifi music is always my favorite. To me, HIFI is my life. That’s why together we establish LETSHUOER.”

– Jeff Wong

With a team of dedicated engineers and designers, LETSHUOER quickly made a name for itself through its focus on technical expertise and user-focused design. Their approach emphasizes acoustic precision, ergonomic comfort and aesthetic refinement. Letshuoer’s commitment to pushing the limits of IEM technology has resulted in standout models like the Mystic 8 and not to be overlooked, their flagship Cadenza 12, known for its exceptional balance, refinement and smooth presentation.

More than just specs, LETSHUOER aims to deliver emotion through sound, whether for professional musicians, critical audiophiles or passionate hobbyists. Their growing reputation is a testament to their belief that great sound should be both innovative and accessible. Letshuoer continues to evolve, driven by curiosity, community feedback and a relentless pursuit of acoustic perfection.

Before I start any review, I always like to know the story behind the company and their products. The “Who we are?” page I found on Letshuoer’s website confirmed exactly what I experienced at High End Munich ’25, a very passioned team, that made us feel welcome.

Join me as we take a closer look at Letshuoer’s latest addition, a design so refined, it almost resembles a piece of jewelry, easily mistaken for an elegant cufflink. The new Letshuoer DX1 features a custom-designed 11mm aluminum-magnesium single dynamic (diamond-shaped pattern) driver, housed in a sleek metal chassis.

It’s a very reasonably priced mid-tier IEM and available with either a 4.4mm balanced or 3.5mm single-ended termination upon ordering.

LETSHUOER DX1

Design:
Letshuoer’s DX1 features a compact metal housing and a custom-designed 11mm dynamic driver with an in house designed diamond-pattern diaphragm, infused with aluminum-magnesium alloy nanoparticles. A built-in 5kHz notch filter is used to reduce resonances and distortion for cleaner sound reproduction.

Packaging
The box is elegantly designed without being unnecessarily large. Inside, you’ll find a robust metal storage case with a nice rubber lid, definately not something you expect at this price point. The package also includes a generous selection of various ear tips across three different styles, including the Tri Clarion, as well as both short and long wide-bore variants.

It comes with a lightweight, high-quality 256-core silver-plated monocrystalline copper cable, terminated in a 4.4 mm L-shaped plug or a 3.5mm version is also available. The cable looks and feels premium. A modular cable with swappable connectors would have added extra convenience and flexibility though (or the option too).

Whats in the box:

  • LETSHUOER DX1 earphones

  • Detachable cable (3.5 mm or 4.4 mm, depending on variant)

  • Three types of eartips in various sizes

  • Durable metal carrying case (A very nice one I must say)

Overal sound quality
The Letshuoer DX1 offers a sound signature that reflects refinement, balance and surprising maturity. Its tonal character leans toward neutral and natural, with an emphasis on clarity and coherence rather than dramatic coloration or exaggerated dynamics.

The DX1 manages to sound engaging and detailed without ever becoming fatiguing. The treble is smooth yet airy, providing just enough sparkle to add excitement, while the midrange is rich and natural, lending voices and acoustic instruments an honest and intimate character.

Although the bass is more restrained, it’s tight and controlled, never muddy or bloated, making it ideal for listeners who prioritize precision and tonal accuracy over sheer impact. This also contributes to the DX1’s overall sense of balance and cleanliness.

Another standout trait is its technical performance. The DX1 delivers a surprisingly wide and dimensional soundstage for a single dynamic driver, with excellent imaging and layering. This helps the listener to perceive depth and instrument separation clearly, even in more complex recordings.

In essence, the DX1 doesn’t try to impress with exaggerated tuning tricks instead, it wins listeners over with its refined, elegant approach to sound. It’s an IEM that rewards careful listening and performs far above its price tag, especially when paired with higher-end sources that can unlock its full potential.

Treble
The DX1’s treble is characterized by its clarity and smoothness. It provides good extension without being overly bright or sibilant, making it suitable for extended listening sessions. The treble detail is commendable, offering a hint of sparkle and airiness that adds to the overall listening experience. This makes it particularly appealing to treble enthusiasts who appreciate a refined high-end response.

Mids
The midrange is where the DX1 truly performs.Vocals are presented with clarity and naturalness, ensuring that both male and female voices sound authentic and engaging. Instruments are accurately rendered, providing a lifelike experience. The midrange is neither recessed nor overly forward, striking a balance that caters to a wide range of musical genres.

Bass
The bass response of the DX1 is tight and well-controlled, focusing more on sub-bass extension than mid-bass punch. While it may not satisfy those seeking a heavy bass impact, it offers a clean and articulate low-end that complements the overall neutral tuning. This makes it ideal for genres where bass precision is more important than quantity.

Soundstage
The DX1 boasts an impressive soundstage for its class, providing a sense of width and depth that enhances the immersive quality of the music. Instrument separation and imaging are precise, allowing listeners to pinpoint the placement of different elements within a track.

Pairing & Source Sensitivity
With a sensitivity of 108 dB/mW and an impedance of 30 ohms, the LETSHUOER DX1 is relatively easy to drive and works well even with modest sources like smartphones, dongle DACs or entry-level portable amps.

However, what’s truly impressive is how well the DX1 scales with higher-end gear. The difference was striking when switching from a Chord Mojo 2 to a Chord TT2 with the M Scaler. The DX1 revealed significantly more detail, a wider soundstage and greater tonal refinement. This clearly shows the DX1 has the technical capability to benefit from top-tier sources.

Moonglow – Diana Krall
‘Moonglow’ thrives on nuance, warmth and space, qualities the LETSHUOER DX1 handles with surprising grace. Its smooth tuning and 11mm dynamic driver bring out the richness of upright bass, the shimmer of brushed cymbals and the intimacy of each note without fatigue.

The 5 kHz notch filter noticeably helps avoid any harshness, letting instruments sound effortlessly natural. When paired with high-end sources the DX1 scales beautifully, revealing subtle room ambience, layering and detail that elevate the track to a studio-like experience.

For such an affordable IEM, the DX1 delivers “Moonglow” with emotion, elegance, and surprising depth.

Candela – Buena Vista Social Club (25th edition)
‘Candela’ bursts with energy, rhythm and rich acoustic textures. They are captured with infectious clarity. The driver delivers the punch of congas, the warmth of guitar strings and the vibrant brass with natural tone and tight control.

Its slightly warm tuning gives the music a lively, analog feel, letting vocals and percussion shine without harshness. The room’s echo, subtle finger movements on strings and the layered complexity of the mix come alive.

Surprisingly dynamic and detailed, the DX1 makes Candela dance in your ears, soulful, vivid, and full of life.

Jodida Pero Contenta – Buika
Buika’s raw, soulful voice is front and center in “Jodida Pero Contenta”The tuning of the DX1 and natural timbre of the 11mm driver capture every breath, rasp and rise in emotion without sibilance or harshness. Nothing other than impressive!

The DX1’s keeps the vocal presentation smooth yet expressive, while instruments like flamenco guitar and subtle percussion are rendered with realism and space. The tremble of vibrato and delicate phrasing, elevating the emotional weight of the performance.

Emotive, textured, and honest, the DX1 turns Buika’s voice and strength into a deeply personal experience.

Stabat Mater, Salve Regina – Christopher Hogwood
‘Salve Regina’ demands delicacy, clarity and space. The DX1 handled this sacred piece with grace. The soprano’s voicer was rendered with purity and natural warmth, free of grain or edge. The 5 kHz notch filter helps preserve the smoothness of both vocals and strings, keeping the presentation refined and controlled.

Even subtle elements like the resonance of the hall and gentle vibrato come through. The DX1 reveals the air, the phrasing and the reverence within the music, allowing you to feel the sacred stillness behind each note.

The DX1 makes “Salve Regina” feel intimate, clear, and quietly breathtaking. Many IEMs render this track with piercing treble that borders on discomfort, not the DX1. Its smooth, controlled presentation is a testament to Letshuoer’s excellent tuning. Well done!

Keith Jarrett – Live in Paris
‘Part I’ begins in quiet introspection and gradually unfolds into expressive improvisation and the LETSHUOER DX1 translates that journey with surprising emotional depth. The IEM’s 11mm dynamic driver captures the delicate touch of Jarrett’s opening phrases with natural warmth, giving the piano a resonant, almost vocal quality.

As the piece intensifies, the dynamics shifts with control and clarity. There’s no harshness, even Jarrett’s vocalizations and pedal movements are audible yet never intrusive. On a high-end source like the Chord TT2 + M Scaler, the DX1 reveals even more: room acoustics, subtle harmonic decay and the flow of Jarrett’s timing become immersive and lifelike.

This track is a test of subtlety and emotional pacing and the DX1 rises to it beautifully, delivering a performance that feels close, real and utterly human.

Conclusion
After testing many IEM brands over the years, I’ve seen plenty of companies attempt something new or different; with mixed results.

Letshuoer clearly takes a more refined approach. The DX1’s tuning leans towards balance and neutrality, but don’t mistake that for being overly analytical. It is extremely musical and smooth, almost organic.

Its ability to handle a wide range of musical genres highlights its versatility. However, it’s not designed for bass enthusiasts; thankfully, more brands like Letshuoer are starting to embrace that approach. The DX1 delivers a smooth yet detailed presentation, making it a non-fatiguing and enjoyable listen over longer sessions.

The DX1 excels with classical, instrumental and vocal music, offering a natural, intimate presentation. With its smooth midrange, realistic timbre and centered imaging, it highlights main instruments beautifully. Thanks to its fast yet controlled dynamic driver, technical performance is impressive for its class.

What also stood out during my testing was how well the DX1 scales with better gear. It already sounded excellent on the Mojo 2 clean, balanced and refined. But the moment I paired it with higher-end sources like the Chord TT2 + MScaler or the remarkable Sparkos Labs Gemini tube amp, the DX1 elevated to another level. The added power, resolution and finesse brought out surprising depth and control, revealing just how capable this IEM truly is when given the right chain.

The Letshuoer DX1 delivers a remarkably balanced and refined sound signature, performing well above its price class a strong recommendation.

The DX1 offers a mature and sophisticated sound signature. Its timeless design, craftsmanship and elegance would serve a gentleman’s style well.
