Review Eversolo A8 LHY LPS Upgrade
I Just did the LHY A8 upgrade. And since not much people have reviewed it, thought to give some thoughts and experiences in this review. I always liked the Eversolo A8, but there was always a just a little treble glare. It also depends on how revealing the whole chain is. But in a chain that is as revealing as mine, you can hear it. I always expected the power supply beeing the cause of that, especially in the Digital streaming section where is still was SMPS. It always sounded good but a little thin at times. I heared better streamers out there, which did not have this issue.

I always thought it was a shame, Eversolo did not use a double LPS in the Eversolo A8. Especially because the streamer part benefits just as much as the analogue part from a decent Power supply. It makes you think, when you see that the Eversolo team gave the new A10 a upgraded ‘now’ double lps. That convinced me to give the LHY LPS upgrade a try in the A8. Looking at the price it was very worth the upgrade, the A10 is double the price of the A8. So such a affordable upgrade like the LHY is a no brainer.
With the LPS LHY upgrade, the treble issue is gone totally, it is like you upgraded the streamer to a higher model.
I never used the dac of the A8 that much. The analogue out certainly was not bad at all, but it was not at the same level as what I already was used to. After the upgrade the internal dac became nice and pleasant, quite the step up! After the upgrade, it is a very nice upgrade regarding the build-in dac. It sound so much smoother analogue now, the background was pitch black and no more treble glare.
After switching from an SMPS to an LPS, the sound as a streamer noticeably improved. It became more musical and relaxed, with a blacker background and clearer instrument separation. I also noticed that vocals sounded fuller and warmer. Sure, these changes are always subtle, but definitely noticeable. In my opinion, this upgrade is absolutely worth it.
The connected dac Chord TT2 + MScaler is not a dac that held the Eversolo back, so every detail and upgrades are heared perfectly.
The LHY is a very well and nice build LPS, good soldering, good parts used. No cuts where made, two very! decent shielded toroidal cores, Mundorff and Rubycon filter capacitors, even a ceramic fuse was used. Even de connecting cables to the mainboard are upgraded.
Conclusion
When I started this journey, I expected a better sound with the LHY A8, what I was not prepared for, was how much!
Like mentioned before. It is an amazing upgrade, very worth what they charge for it. for the analogue it is a must have, but maybe even more for the digital part when you use it as a streamer, there the change was really just as drastic for the good.
